WELCOME TO THE KDA WEBSITE

This site is dedicated to the promotion of Kidney Disease Awarness.  Unfortunately, although kidney failure and the need for dialysis has almost doubled in the last 10 years, most people still are unaware that kidney disease can strike anyone at anytime.  It is estimated that 20 million people may have kidney disease and may not know it. We hope this site will provide information and inspiration.

SOME FACTS...

  • Did you know that there are currently more than 300,000 people receiving dialysis in the United States?
  • Did you know that the average wait for a donor kidney is 7 years?
  • Did you know that the 2 major causes of kidney failure and kidney disease are hypertension (high blood pressure) and diabetes?
  • Did you know that most people who experience late stage renal (kidney) failure have NO simptoms until it is too late?

Neither did we, until 4 years ago when my husband was diagnosed with late stage renal disease
